SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS 1. HEED WARNINGS -- All warnings on the appliance and in the operating instrucbons should be adhered to. 2. READ INSTRUCTIONS -- All the safety and operating instructions should be read before the appliance is operated. 3. RETAIN INSTRUCTIONS -- The safety and operating instructons should be retained for future reference. 4. FOLLOW INSTRUCTIONS -- All operating and use instructons should be followed. 5. CLEANING -- Unplug this video product from the wall outlet before deaning. Do not use liquid cleaners or aerosol cleaners. Use a damp cloth for deaning. 6. ATTACHMENTS -- Do not use attachments not recommended as they may cause hazard. 7. WATER AND MOISTURE -- Do not use this equipment near water -- for example, near a bath tub, wash bowl, kitchen sink, or laundry tub, in a wet basement, or near a swimming pool, etc. 8. ACCESSORIES -- Do not place this video product on an unstable cart, stand, tripod, bracket, or table. The video product may fall causing serious injury and serious damage to the appliance. Use only with a cart, stand, tripod, bracket, or table recommended by the manufacturer, or sold with equipment. Any mounting of the appliance should follow the manufacturer's instructions, and should use a mounting accessory recommended by the manufacturer. 9. VENTILATION -- Slots and openings in the cabinet are provided for ventilation and to ensure reliable operation of the equipment and to protect it from overheating. The openings should never be blocked by placing the video product on a bed, sofa, rug, or similar surface. Equipment should never be placed near or over a radiator or heat register, or in a built-in installation such as a bookcase or rack unless proper ventilation is provided. 10. POWER SOURCES -- This video product should be operated only from the type of power sources indicated on the marking label. If you are not sure of the type of power supplied to your home, consult your local power company. For equipment intended to operate from battery povmr, or other sources, refer to the operating instructions. 11. GROUND OR POLARIZATION -- This equipment may be equipped with a polarized attemating-current line plug (a plug having one blade wider than the other). This plug will fit into the power outlet only one way. This is a safety feature. If you are unable to insert the plug fully into the outlet, try reversing the plug. If the plug should still fail to fit, contact your electrician to replace your obsolete outlet. Do not defeat the safety purpose of the polarized plug. . 12. POWER-CORD PROTECTION -- Power supply cords should be routed so that they are not likely to be walker on or pinched by items placed upon or against them, paying particular attention to cords at plugs, convenience receptacles, and the point where they exit from the appliance. 13. OUTDOOR ANTENNA GROUNDING -- If an outside antenna or cable system is connected to the equipment, be sure the antenna or cable system is grounded so as to provide some protection against voltage surges and built-up static charges. Section 810 of the National Electrical Code, ANSI/NFPA No. 70, provides information with respect to proper grounding of the lead in wire to an antenna discharge unit, size of grounding conductors, location of antenna-discharge unit, connection to grounding electrodes, and requirements to the grounding electrodes (see figure 1). 14. LIGHTNING -- For added protection for this equipment during a lightning storm, or when it is left unattended and unused for long periods of time, unplug it from the wall outlet and disconnect the antenna or cable system. This will prevent damage to the video product due to lightning and powerline surges. 15. POWER LINES -- An outside antenna system should not be located in the vicinity of overhead power lines. 16. OVERLOADING -- Do not overload wall outlets and extension cords as this can result in a risk of fire or electrical shock. 17. OBJECT AND LIQUID ENTRY -- Never push objects of any kind into this equipment through openings as they may touch dangerous voltage points or short-out parts that ' could result in a fire or electrical shock. Never spill liquid of any kind on the video product. 18. SERVICING -- Do not attempt to service this equipment yourself as opening or removing covers may expose you to dangerous voltage or other hazards, refer all servicing to qualified service personnel. 19. DAMAGE REQUIRING SERVICE -- Unplug this e4ulpment from the wall outlet and refer servicing to qualified service personnel under the following conditions: a. When the power-supply cord or plug is damaged. b. If liquid has been spilled, or objects have fallen into the equipment. C. If the equipment has been exposed to rain or water. d. If the equipment does not operate normally by following the operating instrucbons. Adjust only those controls that are covered by the operating instrucbons as an improper adjustment of other controls may result in damage and will often require extensive work by a qualified technician to restore the equipment to its normal operation. e. If the equipment has been dropped or the cabinet has been damaged. f. When the equipment exhibits a distinct change in performance, indicating a need for service. 20. REPLACEMENT PARTS
-- When replacement parts are required, be sure the OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS Tuning Channels: You can tune to channels by either entering the channel number directly or using the channel up or channel down scan buttons. To directly tune to channels above 100, you must first enter the IOOA button followed by the next two digits. LCR or last channel recall, will allow you to change between the channel you are watching and the last entered channel, Favorite Channels: Pressing the FAV+/- when you are tuned to the channel you wish to be stored as a favorite channel enters favorite channel. After all desired favorite channels are entered, pressing the FAV button will advance you to the next favorite channel in sequence. Channel Lock: You can lock out channels by tuning to the channel to be locked then pressing the CH-LOCK button causing the display of four underscores. Before the underscores return back to the channel number, enter your 4-digit channel lock code causing the display to read LOC. The channel is now locked. Repeat the process above to unlock. The channel lock code is factory set to 1,2,3,4. To enter a new channel lock code, hold in the CH-LOCK button until the underscores switch to overscores then enter the old/existing channel lock code and the display will return to underscores. Enter the new channel lock code and record below for future reference.
You can change the volume by using the VOL+ or VOL-. It is recommended that you set your TV volume to 70% for optimum performance. The MUTE button will mute all sound. HRC/SD The factory sets each
unit to the standard tuning frequency (SD). If your cable operator provides
HRC tuning, hold the HRC/SD button in for 5 seconds or until the display
registers a change to the proper tuning band. Select The SELECT function controls certain functions that your cable operator may offer. Oressing the SELECT key displays "Sl" signifying a SELECT #1 setting. Pressing SELECT a second time displays "S2". and a third time displays "S3". Consult your local cable operator for more information. Option The OPTION feature allows you to "buzz" the audio portion of any channel you may not wish to hear. Pressing the OPTION button for 3 seconds toggles the display from "ol" to "o2" and back again. Choose OPTION 1 or OPTION 2 by listening for your desired audio preference. Channel3/4 Pressing the a/4 button on the face of the converter for 5 seconds will switch the output channel to the television to "CH3" for channel 3 or 'CH4' for channel 4. Menu T'he MENU feature was designed to provide the user with information on the current status of any particular channel. Pressing MENU one-time displays "S" or "H" corresponding to the current tuning frequency of the converter (HRC or SD). Pressing MENU a second time displays the Select status of the current channel (SO, Sl, S2, and S3). Pressing MENU a third time displays the Option status of the current channel (01 or 02). Pressing MENU a forth time displays the status of the output channel to the television (CH3 for channel 3 or CH4 for channel 4). EXAMPLES
