Important
Switches:
The channel output
and IRC/HRC/STD switches have been preset at the factory to (3)
and (STD) which covers most cable systems in the U.S.A. if the settings
are incorrect for your cable system, follow these instructions.
There are 2 switches on this converter that must be set correctly to insure
proper operation. if you don't know what the proper settings should be
we recommend that you hook up the converter to the TV without any additional
items such as VCR'S, Laser Discs, etc. This will make the job of setting
the switches much easier. After the correct settings are made, you can
hook up your other equipment.
Channel Output Switch
(1) CH-3/CH-4 output Switch is located on the back of the converter (see
page 2 ); if your cable company broadcasts on channel 3 (represents 80%
of the country), then leave the switch on 3. if your cable company broadcasts
on channel 4, then set the switch to channel 4. (if your cable company
broadcasts on a channel other than 3 or 4 use whichever setting brings
in the sharpest picture.)Your TVNCR must be set to the same channel as
this switch setting.
Carrier
Switch
(2) Carrier (IRC/HRC/SID) Switch: Most cable systems operate on
carrier setting STD, but there are areas that operate on the HRCARC system.
This information can normally be obtained from your cable company. if
you do not know which carrier setting you are on, start with the switch
in the STD position. If the picture Is not received properly, even
after fine tuning, (see pages 11 for fine tuning Instructions) unplug
the converter from the wall, set the switch to HRC, plug In the converter
and try again. If that Is Incorrect, try IRC. Please Note: The Carrier
Switch Is recessed and to adjust It you will need a plastic encased screwdriver.
Trouble symptoms:
If your CONVERTER or Television is on the wrong IRCAiRC/STD
setting, you will have one or more of the following symptoms*:
1. Basic stations are grainy, snowy, the picture quality is very poor.
· .You have to fine tune every time you switch channels.
3. All channels come in except channels 5 and 6.
4. Only channels 5 and 6 come in.
5. Numerous channels are only received in black and white.
* See number (2) Carrier Switch above for the setting procedure.
Note: If your television is carrier switchable make sure it is
set
to Standard (STD), Ant, or AIR. See you television manual.
CONVERTER
CONTROLS, SWlTCHES & DISPLAY

The correct IRC/HRC/STD
setting is crucial for the proper operation of your converter. The switch
is recessed and you will need a plastic encased screwdriver when adjusfing
it.
REMOTE
CONTROL BUTTONS AND OPERATION
 |
|
PWR/ON(Power
- On/Off)
This feature is common to both the converter and the remote control.
Many late model televisions will not turn on unless the "power
on" button on the television's remote control is used. They may
also lose memory due to the power loss effect of a switched outlet.
If your television loses memory because of this power loss, plug your
television into a wall outlet instead of the CONVERTER |
